So since my plane wasn't supposed to leave for another 4 hours I thought I'd check out the airport shops, so I checked out the book shop I passed and the guy there told me about a bigger one at the other end of the airport, and so since I had time I looked around there too, when I got back to my gate I got another text saying that I had been re-booked for another flight that would take me to Detroit and then Frankfurt, so I talked to one of the airport ladies, and she said my new gate was at the other end of the airport and when I got there to talk to the person there and she would print me new tickets and take care of getting me seats on my new flights, and she asked me if I needed directions, and I knew exactly where I was going! Hehe. :) so when I got to the new gate I talked to the lady there, and she asked me what seats I wanted and got me a window seat for the long flight! (On the other flight I would have sat in the middle seat of the middle row.) And so I did a little mind jig.
They had started boarding the plane before the lady printed my ticket, so I got right on as soon as I had it.
There was nothing unusual about the flight. I like flying though. And I thought the turbulence was super fun. Once we reached altitude mostly what we could see was clouds, so I napped a good portion of the flight.
When we reached Detroit there was a bunch of fields bordered with trees, and it must have just rained because all of the fields were splotchy golden brown and bark brown, and the lush green trees framed them beautifully! I got a picture, but it gives the scene no justice.
I had a few hours until my next flight, and the Detroit airport is a mile long, super wide hallway with moving walkways all the way down. My flight arrived at one end of the airport, and my next flight to Frankfurt was just a few gates down, so for the first hour I walked down the hall and back on the moving sidewalks and stopping to look at interesting looking shops.
On the flight to Frankfurt, at altitude once again, all we could see were clouds, but they were pretty.
The sunset was amazing! The sky was shades of orange, yellow and red that reflected off of the fluffy clouds and the plane. I couldn't get my camera or my phone to an angle that could see it, so I don't have a picture.
When it got dark they served dinner and I got a chicken salad that was more like a little bit of lettuce under cold chicken. :P
About three hours into the flight I looked out the window and the sky above us was beautiful and clear and just below was a thick, fluffy blanket of clouds and the moon was shining off the clouds and the wing of the plane making an awesome dramatic scene.
And then in the morning when I woke up, the line between the sky and clouds was a rainbow. It was beautiful!
When we were approaching Frankfurt we dropped below the clouds and the German fields are so lush and green and brown with little spots of color from poppies and other wild flowers.
When we landed we got off the plane and got on a bus that brought us to the airport.
I followed the crowd to the baggage claim and waited, but didn't find my bag. Soon after the bags stopped sliding onto the baggage claim belt, a guy came and got those of us who didn't find our bags. Most of us were re-booked from the flight to JFK, and our bags were on their way from Detroit, and scheduled to be there by the end of the day, so he asked for addresses for the bags to be delivered to.
After all that was done I walked out and met Kaleb and Sarah and went to their house.
I'm visiting my aunt, uncle and cousins in Wiesbaden Germany for the summer, and having lots of adventures!

I love this post!
ReplyDeleteI love flying, and my favorite part is the clouds. I'm so glad you enjoyed your flight.
Keep writing, and don't you stop. Feelings and observations, especially little things -- not just events -- are the best things to go back and read about personal adventures.
